white as well as color. Students learn about the different mediums used, such as watercolor, colored pencils, acrylics for
color projects, as well as pencil to ink drawing. There is also rudimentary clay sculpting involved. Students projects will be
mounted for display on foam core boards.
Intro to Art II-Picks up where Intro I leaves off. Drawing and painting projects become more advanced, as well as sculpting
with air dry clay. All projects will demonstrate a progression in students awareness of the disciplines of the visual arts.
Drawing- Starts with projects that follow linear perspective. This is done through the teaching of "eyeballing" and
"thumbnail" techniques. Projects involve still life scenes or life drawings (from photos) will be covered. Also, there will be
drawings from 3-D subjects in pencil, charcoal and conte. Both for color and b&w.
Painting- Students learn about highlighting and darkness in color and how they help to shape the paintings. Projects will
include still life, landscapes, as well as life scenes. Acrylic and watercolor are the mediums taught for this class. Paintings to
be done on canvas, illustration board or watercolor paper.
Cartooning and Comics Creations-This course also covers fantasy art as an expression of ones creativity. The basics of
cartooning, either single or multi-paneled funnies are covered. There also will be coverage of editorial style and comics
pages techniques. Students projects will be compiled and published in a comic book formated keepsake book to
commemorate their works.
Mean Machines- Fantasy as well as actual vehicles will be the projects that students will create. From either photos or the
imagination, autos, aircraft, etc. will be drawn, painted as well as displayed as part of students project requirements.
Starting with the basics of shapes and perspective, students will become with the many aspects of artworks of this type of
subject matter.
Anime- Drawing the body the Manga way is explored. These fanciful cartoon type images based on popular Japanese cultural
icons are covered. Learn about the distortions and modifications of the human form to create these wonderful images.
Students should be aquainted with genre and have a knowledge of anatomy drawing. Final projects in b&w as well as color.
Sculpting- Students should have a proficiency with drawing as well as painting. Air dry as well as Sculpy mediums will be
covered in this course. Air dry clay as well as armature materials are provided but students must bring their own Sculpy
supplies.
